You Need A Website!

If
you have a business it needs to be online.

Period.

My name is Michael Davis.

Did you know that 75% of people searching for a service or a product in the San Diego area will look online first. If you don’t have a website you are invisible to them. You can’t afford not to have a website. You might as well close your doors. This is the way people are finding businesses today.

Your website is the online representation of your business. Your store, or shop is your physical presence. Far more people will see it than could ever come to your shop. In your shop I would assume you have it all arranged to give the maximum positive impression of your business. You want people who come into your shop to be impressed and to feel you are a professional company who they can trust with their business.

So, which presence, physical or online, has the potential for the most exposure? In a typical day how many people can visit your store? 50, 100, maybe 1,000 or more? And how much staff and other resources does it take to handle this many customers?

Now consider the online presence, your website. How many potential customers can it handle? How many sales reps or other employees does it need to service those visitors? I think you get the picture. Your website is “open” 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It has the ability to handle millions of potential customers with not much more than the initial building of the site and the hosting.

So, then, tell me why you want to “go cheap” on building the website? Why would you want your website, which will see many, many more visitors, to be created and hosted cheaply? I know it is a temptation for small businesses that wants to get a website to look at it as just the website and not the “real” business. Why put much money into a nice, professional website when you are just looking to have a place on the Internet to show your business? Something to put on your business cards?

It’s no wonder that so many businesses don’t see a lot of new business from their website. I have looked at a lot of websites and see many are built on free website building services or built by someone who obviously had no experience. What do you think your potential customers think about that website? In extension what do you think they think of your business when looking over a poorly built website?

So, why invest any money at all in a website? The reason was stated above. The website has the potential to attract many more customers to your business than your physical store. If it is done right. If you use a free website building service or have some kid build it for $50 then it will look like that.

A website should be looked at as a tool to reach many more potential customers than your physical storefront could ever hope to reach. The fact is that these potential customers WILL come to your site. Once there it is the job of the website to convert them to actual paying customers.

So, don’t go into setting up a website for your business looking for ways to do it cheaply. Treat your website as gold. It could bring in hundreds or even thousands of times the revenue it cost to build. It IS your online presence. Far more potential customers will see it than will ever see your store front.

Bottom line:

Plan out your website with an experienced, professional website designer. Think ahead of how to get it found so the SEO (search engine optimization) can be built into it as it is built, not as a secondary add on later.

Do it right, or don’t do it at all. A poorly conceived and built website will hurt your business as much as a well planned and well built website will help it.
